ETS Announces ISO Accreditation of Scorpions Multiplex PCR Technology

ETS announces the ISO 17025 accreditation of its exclusive, rugged, and time proven Scorpions™ genetic detection technology for spoilage yeast by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ETS is the first and only laboratory providing this advanced – and now ISO-accredited –technology to the beverage industry.

“ETS Scorpions are the most accurate, powerful, and reliable genetic analyses available to winemakers,” said Gordon Burns, Technical Director of ETS. “Our exclusive multiplex quantitative PCR analyses for wine allow us to run multiple reactions in one tube for unparalleled speed and efficiency in our Scorpions tests.”

While many PCR analyses can be impacted by high levels of phenolics, solids, and microbes, the ETS Scorpions technology uses multiple standards and internal controls to help identify problems with DNA isolation, contamination, or inhibition of the PCR reaction.

The ISO accreditation of ETS Laboratories Scorpions technology recognizes the reliability and accuracy of this advanced analytical technology, backed by more than 30 years of experience and ETS’s ISO-accredited quality control system.

ETS was first accredited by the ISO in 1999. Today, the ETS ISO accreditation spans 5 facilities, 38 tests, and 7 different technologies – more than any other independent wine laboratory. ETS offers their clients ISO-accredited analyses for more than 45 different chemical analyses, and now for microbial identification using our Scorpions genetic detection.
